As of March 31, 2026, a 10-year adult passport in Canada costs $163.50, and a 5-year adult passport costs $122.50.

Am I eligible for a passport fee refund?

If your application was not processed within IRCC service standards, you are eligible for an automatic 25% or 50% refund of the service fee, depending on the length of the delay.

Overview of 2026 Fee Adjustments

Starting March 31, 2026, Canadian passport fees have been adjusted in accordance with the Service Fees Act. These changes reflect inflation and the cost of maintaining high-security travel documents.

Delayed Processing? You Are Owed a Refund

The Government of Canada has committed to strict service standards. If your application processing (starting from the date a complete application is received) is delayed, you receive an automatic partial refund:

25% Refund: Delay of 1–10 business days beyond standards.
50% Refund: Delay of 11+ business days beyond standards.

Exclusions: The $25 consular fee and expedited “Urgent” fees are non-refundable.
