BREAKING – Prime Minister Justin Trudeau resigned

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced his resignation on January 6, 2025, after nearly a decade in office. Citing declining popularity and internal party conflicts, Trudeau stated he would remain in his role until the Liberal Party selects a new leader. Additionally, the recent resignation of Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland, who opposed certain fiscal policies, intensified calls for Trudeau’s departure. The Liberal Party is expected to hold a leadership race, with potential candidates such as Chrystia Freeland, Dominic LeBlanc, and Mark Carney being considered. Parliament has been prorogued until March 24, 2025, to facilitate this transition.
