Canadian Passport Fees 2026: New Fee Changes & Service Delivery Updates

New Canadian Passport Fees 2026: Everything You Need to Know

Important Update: Starting March 31, 2026, most Canadian passport and travel document fees will increase to reflect inflation and service delivery costs under the Service Fees Act.

Upcoming Passport Fee Changes (Effective March 31, 2026)

If IRCC receives your application on or after March 31, 2026, the new fee structure applies. Below is a detailed breakdown of the price adjustments for Canadians living at home and abroad.

Service Type Old Fee (Before Mar 31) New Fee (On/After Mar 31)
10-year Adult Passport (In Canada) $160.00 $163.50
5-year Adult Passport (In Canada) $120.00 $122.50
10-year Adult Passport (Outside Canada) $260.00 $266.25
5-year Adult Passport (Outside Canada) $190.00 $194.25
Child Passport (In Canada) $57.00 $58.50
Child Passport (Outside Canada) $100.00 $102.50
*there is no tax for passport application

Specialized Travel Document & Service Fees

In addition to standard passports, urgent processing and administrative documents have also seen a price adjustment:

  • Urgent Pickup: Increased from $110 to $125.75
  • Adult Refugee Travel Document: Increased from $120 to $122.50
  • Temporary Passport: Increased from $110 to $125.75
  • Weekend/Statutory Holiday Service: Increased from $335 to $383.50

Critical Deadlines for Mailed Applications

A common mistake is assuming the “postmarked” date counts. It does not. The fee you must pay is determined by the date the passport office receives your application.

Pro Tip: If your application is received on or after May 1, 2026, with the old fee, IRCC will return the application to you, requiring a full resubmission with the correct payment.
