Official Victoria Day Closure Dates
Service Canada and specialized passport offices observe the following schedule:
- Monday, May 19, 2025: Closed
- Monday, May 18, 2026: Closed
During these dates, in-person appointments, walk-in services, and telephone support via the Passport Program call centre will be unavailable.
How to Prepare for the Holiday Weekend
Check Your Expiry Date
Ensure your passport has at least 6 months of validity beyond your planned return date. Avoid the “holiday rush” by booking your appointment early in May.
Urgent Pick-up Services
If you must travel during the holiday, you will need to provide proof of travel. Note that urgent pick-up fees will apply for processing outside of standard business hours.

While you can drop your application in a Canada Post box, it will not be collected or processed until the next business day as Canada Post also observes the holiday.

No. While Quebec celebrates National Patriots’ Day (Journée nationale des patriotes) on the same day, federal offices like Service Canada remain closed.
